I was born in Costa Rica almost 40 summers ago, lived in Colombia for 25 years, moved to Switzerland in 2013, and have been a Spanish citizen for some time now. I come from a family of artisans and artists. By profession, I am a Historian and Political Scientist. Since 2018, I’ve been working at the UN. In my free time, I enjoy learning photography, riding two-wheeled vehicles, travelling, hiking, and stargazing.
I am a passionate individual who always carries a camera and takes many, many photos; a self-taught enthusiast who tries not to go to bed without learning something new about photography, not to leave the house without a camera, and to capture everything that can be photographed. My goal is to turn photography into my profession.
I started this hobby in 2009 with a small Sony DSC-W55. Then, after moving to the spectacular Helvetic landscapes, I bought the Sony RX100-II. Nowadays, I use the Sony RX100-VII and the Sony a6600 (tools that drive me to believe that photography should be more than just a passion).
At the end of 2023, I opened a public account on Instagram (@nicoescobarphotography) and enrolled in several online photography courses. There, I realised that the next step in my journey to professionalize this passion was to create a portfolio to share my progress and to continue learning, which is the purpose of this page.
I hope you enjoy my portfolio as much as I have enjoyed capturing all the pictures!
